Real Madrid sources claim that the future of striker Gonzalo Higuain is still unclear despite the player believing to be on the verge of joining Arsenal, according to a report in The Sun. Higuain has been linked with a £23 million move to London for several weeks now and with the paperwork reportedly close to being completed just a few days ago, Madrid sources are now suggesting that Higuain could snub Arsenal and stay at the Bernabeu. The Argentine international striker still has three-years-left to run on his current contract and newly appointed manager, Carlo Anelotti believes the player does still have a future at the club. The former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss is set to sit down to work out the future of the 25-year-old who scored 16 La Liga goals in 28 appearances lasts season for Real Madrid. According to The Sun, last year's La Liga runners-up insist that they are not trying to force Higuain out of the Spanish giants and that he could have a big part to play next season as Ancelotti's Real Madrid attempt to regain the domestic title from Barcelona, and go further in the Champions League than they did under Mourinho.
