Arsenal Transfer News: Luis Suarez Move "Impossible"
BBC. The 26-year-old has been the subject of two failed bids from Arsenal - the most recent of which being an offer of £1 over £40 million - and has been ordered by manager Brendan Rodgers to train on his own after trying to force a move away. Earlier today, Liverpool owner John W Henry said the Uruguayan will not be sold this summer, at any price. And the Gunners have suffered yet another set-back in their efforts to sign the striker, with Taylor saying:
"With the transfer window expiring, the difficulties of not only selling him to a competitor but also replacing him makes it practically impossible."That's bad news for Arsene Wenger, who earlier this summer also missed out on Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain, who recently agreed a move to Serie A side Napoli. Arsenal thought their offer in excess of £40 million would trigger a release clause in Suarez's contract and effectively force Liverpool to sell their prized asset. But Taylor said:
"I think it really muddies the waters to have buy-out clauses that are supposed to be confidential between employer and employee. "Inevitably that gets out. The drafting of such clauses are far from straightforward."With just over three weeks to go until the transfer window slams shut, Reds owner Henry is adamant Suarez will not be sold this summer, particularly to a domestic rival. The American businessman said:
"Suarez won't be sold, even if a foreign club comes in, because we do not have time to sign a suitable replacement."Suarez has come in for criticism from Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher recently, while Reds manager Rodgers said the player has shown "total disrespect" for the club.
