Arsenal are in pursuit to sign veteran striker Miroslav Klose, reports Metro. The potential transfer would only see the Klose loaned out to the London club until the end of the season. The 33 year old German forward is currently playing for Lazio and it seems that Arsene Wenger is keen on bringing him in to provide back-up to Olivier Giroud. Nicklas Bendtner has suffered from a number of injury problems over the season and has only played in a handful of games, meanwhile Lukas Podolski is untrusted as the lead striker, with Wenger preferring him to cut inside from the wing. Now that it seems that the Julian Draxler deal has faded, Arsenal may be looking for a short term solution until the summer when they can try to get the promising youngster once again. Klose would certainly provide an experienced head in the last few months of the season. He has gained 130 caps for his national team, scoring 68 goals. Since joining Lazio in 2011 he has scored almost a goal every two games. Despite being 35 he is expected to be part of the Germany squad that travels to Brazil for the World Cup in the summer. If Klose does sign it could be the second major acquisition of the day for the Gunners who also look set to sign midfielder Kim Kallstrom. This would mark something of a departure for Arsene Wenger€™s transfer policy of bring in younger players as both targets are aged over 30.
