Arsenal Transfer News: Nacho Monreal In For €10 Million

By Simon Gallagher /

The Sun Arsene Wenger is attempting to put together a deal for Spanish defender Nacho Monreal, who currently plies his trade at Malaga. This comes after Kieran Gibbs picked up a thigh injury against Liverpool last night in the 2-2 draw, leaving Andre Santos as his only fit option at left full-back. Earlier in the day, the BBC's David Ornstein had revealed on his Twitter account that the North London side were working hard on their attempts to bring in a new left-back and now it seems that Monreal is the option that Wenger is pressing ahead with. Following that news, Madrid-based newspaper AS has reported that Monreal is currently in London ahead of a move to join former teammate Santi Cazorla to the Emirates. They suggest that the deal is worth 10million Euros. Monreal started his career out at Osasuna before moving to rich Malaga side in 2011, where he has cemented his reputation as a strong defensive left-back, which will no doubt please Arsenal fans looking for some more defensive steel. He has made nine international appearances for Spain. Are you happy with this possible deal? Share your thoughts below.
