Arsenal Transfer News: Stevan Jovetic Admits To Gunners "Affinity"

By Joseph Dempsey /

TEAMtalk.com. The 23-year old is set to spearhead the attack against England in tonight's crucial Group H World Cup qualifier clash, and has been tipped with a possible summer transfer move to Arsene Wenger's side. The Gunners have been looking for a new world class striker ever since losing Robin van Persie to rivals Manchester United last summer, and have suffered an indifferent campaign since. "I've heard about Arsenal's interest," Jovetic was quoted as saying by The Sun.

"It's a big pleasure for me to be on the radar of such a big club. I am happy about that. "I've always had an affinity with Arsenal. It's a major club with a big tradition, one of the biggest in Europe. "It's not easy to replace van Persie, who scored a lot of goals. "Arsenal have plenty of players who don't score like Van Persie, but are also very good. "They are still very strong. I often watch Premier League games on TV. It's one of the best leagues in the world and looks tempting for me. "Maybe one day I will play there but I have a contract with Fiorentina and battling for a Champions League place in Serie A is the only thing I'm thinking about now."
Jovetic has enjoyed a successful season with Italian side Fiorentina this term, finding the back of the net 12 times in 27 appearances, helping Vincenzo Montella's side to 4th in the league and in with a chance of Champions League qualification. Alongside Mirko Vucinic, Jovetic will be the player to look out for tonight as England look to negotiate what looks to be a tricky away encounter with Montenegro in Group H. The Three Lions currently trail their opponents by two points and face the prospect of an unenviable play-off if they were to finish as runners up. Defeat tonight would leave Roy Hodgson's men trailing the Group H leaders by five points.
