Ok so these two names clearly aren't new players that Wenger should sign this season but we'd argue that keeping hold of Walcott & Van Persie next season is as important as any new prospective signing. Van Perise is clearly one of the best in-form strikers across Europe and without his 30 goals last season, The Gunners would unquestionably have missed out on Champions League football. They would have at the very least finished fourth and not third (in reality, they probably would have finished mid table without Van Persie) which last season wasn't enough to qualify for the Champions League, costing them the £20-40 million that last season's time in the tournament brought to the Emirates. If Arsenal were to sell Van Persie this summer for £20 million.... and they missed out on Champions League football next term because their replacements weren't good enough to take them into the qualifying places, then they have gained nothing. But if they keep Van Persie and qualify for the tournament, they have made the money back from what they would have gotten from selling him and who knows - if they have a great campaign and finish 2nd and really push for the Champions League and Premier League title, Van Persie might sign an extension to his deal. But it is vitally important that Wenger does not allow Van Persie to leave this month unless he is 100% confident of signing a striker across Europe who can come straight into the side, much like Sergio Aguero has done at Manchester City and replace their captain. Similarly for Theo Walcott, who had a great campaign with England at the Euro's, the young winger is finally maturing into the player we all knew he could be come. He is still only 23-years-old and is years away from hitting his peak years and next season will be a big one for him as he stas to get results from all his impressive things he can do on the ball. But Wenger must keep him at Arsenal for this to happen
