Arsenal Transfers: 10 Players Wenger Must Buy To Catch City

By WhatCulture /

5. Hugo Lloris

Arsenal haven't had a dominant goalkeeper since the days of Jens Lehmann when the club were "The Invincibles" and one of the best teams in Europe. Without a world class goalkeeper, you don't win titles. United lose Edwin Van Der Sar... they failed to recapture the league title. Manchester City see the emergence of Joe Hart... they win the title. Who is to say that if United had Joe Hart that they wouldn't have won the extra point that would have saw them win the league last season? Despite some good performances last season Wojciech Szczesny is still too erratic and perhaps overly cocky and arrogant to be a reliable stopper for Arsenal. He may mature into being a world class keeper but right now he isn't there yet and with the likes of French international goalkeeper Hugo Lloris available on the market, Wenger should seriously consider making a move. Lloris had a solid Euro 2012 tournament, captaining the French side who were ultimately knocked out by eventual winners Spain, and has attracted interest from throughout Europe as he seems to be keen to call time on his four year association with Lyon. He actually looked close to a move to Arsenal's North London rivals Spurs but no deal has yet been completed and for now he is available and on the market.
