6. Demba BaClub: Newcastle United Value: £7.5m One of the other major sagas of the summer is the will-he, won't-he surrounding Demba Ba and that contract clause that former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp decided was appropriate content for a very public interview with the press prior to his sacking. According to the terms of his current deal, and as a direct result of the player's inability to pass a medical when he signed from West Ham (thanks to that "time-bomb" knee), Ba is available for just £7.5m, provided any potential buyer would be willing to waive the usually strict rules of medicals and swallow the extra financial hit on the player's insurance. For that price and the acceptance of the risk attached to Ba's underlying medical condition, Arsenal would be getting a proven hit-man, with an enviable track record at the highest level despite what is said to be a fairly major debilitating injury, who not only scores tap-ins, but can also score from long distance, with finesse as he did against Man Utd, and from dead-ball situations as he did here against West Brom in some style. http://youtu.be/DChT_mjNb4Q He is a phenomenal striking talent, whose record in the second half of the season on paper does no justice to his value to the team, or the goals he could bring to whichever team he plays for next season. Newcastle fans will hope it is their team, but he would be an excellent - but not a long-term - solution to Arsenal's need for goals. And if Arsene Wenger does indeed want to bring Ba in, he'll have to consider making the move very soon, because come August 1st, the release clause in his contract will disappear and his value will revert to a more realistic level for a player who scored 16 goals last term.
