Arsenal Transfers: 10 Replacements For Robin Van Persie

8. Adrian Lopez

Club: Atletico Madrid Value: £10m Lopez, who currently plays his football in the Spanish capital, was linked to the Emirates club earlier in the summer by Spanish outlet AS, with a preliminary offer of £10m said to have been tabled just under a month ago. While that reported interest appears to have come to nothing, the player would still make an exceptional addition to the Arsenal striking pool, having enjoyed an extremely successful season last year for Atletico. The creative 24-year-old scored an impressive 20 goals in all competitions last term, and his particular brand of fluid attacking football would certainly suit Arsenal's purist ethos for football. The player usually sits at the front of a 4,3,3 similar to that played at Arsenal last season, but with the additions of Giroud and Podolski, you have to wonder whether Arsene Wenger might not go for a more direct 4,2,2 variant with the two new strikers paired up-front together. If that were to be the case, spending £10m on a 24 year old to sit on the bench, even with the coffers boosted quite healthily by Van Persie's sale.
