Arsenal Transfers: 5 More La Liga Stars Who Could Follow Higuain To The Emirates

By Joseph Dempsey /

With Juventus set to sign Carlos Tevez later today, Arsenal at long last look closer to securing the transfer of Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid. The Turin based club were, for long periods, threatening to rival the Gunners for the signature of the Real Madrid marksman but the path is now clear for Arsene Wenger to land his man after the Italians instead switched their attentions to the Manchester City star. Further developments at Real Madrid, who have just recently appointed Carlo Ancelotti as the successor to Jose Mourinho, mean a deal for Higuain to move to the Premier League in inching ever closer to completion. The acquisition of Higuain would be seen as a coup for Wenger, considering the 25-year old's form last season, in which he netted 16 times in La Liga. At long last, perhaps, Arsenal have landed a world class replacement for Robin van Persie instead of the low-cost pretenders Wenger has so often been accustomed with buying. Higuain was the seventh top scorer in La Liga last season, and will certainly add a more cutting edge, goalscoring threat to the Gunner's forward line next term. And has Wenger got his eye on any more of his La Liga colleagues? Will any more Spanish exports be joining Nacho Monreal, Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Higuain at the Emirates next season?
