The West Ham midfielder was snapped up by Sam Allardyce after leaving Wigan on a free transfer at the end of last season. With a reported £3.5m release clause built into his contract, he would add much needed steel to an Arsenal midfield currently lacking in strength. Within Arsene's price range, surely this man should be the first one through the door at The Emirates with Abou Diaby proving to be as reliable as a policitican's manifesto. Arsenal have long been lacking a midfield bite ever since Vieira left and somewhat after that Gilberto. In fact the closest the club came to somebody reliable was Mathieu Flamini in his partnership with Cesc Fabregas in the middle of the park. Alex Song was never quite the anchorman others before him were but without him, Wenger seriously needs to bring somebody new in.
