In some potentially fantastic news for the vast majority of Arsenal fans, it looks as if Shkodran Mustafi’s time at The Emirates may be coming to an end.

According to L’Equipe, AS Monaco have enquired about the German centre-back as they look to reinforce their backline ahead of the impending Ligue 1 season.

Mustafi still has two years left on his Gunners contract, and Arsenal would be seeking a fee in the region of €30 million for the 27-year-old German. For Arsenal, that would mark a loss for a player who cost them a fee in the region of €38 million when he arrived from Valencia in 2016.

Having arrived at Arsenal as a World Cup winner with a reputation for his physicality and defensive prowess, Mustafi has at times struggled at The Emirates. As an attacking threat, he’s popped up with seven goals during his 84 games for Arsenal, but many Arsenal fans have been left with their head in their hands at the defensive side of the former Everton youth prospect’s game.

With star centre-half Jemerson entering the final 12 months of his contract at Monaco, Leonardo Jardim’s men are on the lookout for a defender as they face the prospect of having to sell Brazilian Jemerson this summer or lose him for nothing next year.
