Cook has struggled with the bat in recent times with England, but his 65 in the second innings certainly was a cause for optimism. However, whatever you say about his battling, his captaincy has been impeccable €“ even if the Australians are keen to suggest otherwise. I often think the best judge of a team is how they react to adversity as well as bad results. It's clear that this is the situation that England find themselves in, but under Cook, I expect to see them come out fighting.
