Similarly to Compton, 28 year old Hildreth has been a highly consistent performer at county level for a number of years, being tipped by many to progress to play for England. A first class average of 43 in over 150 matches in Division 1 of the County Championship is highly impressive, leading to numerous England Lions call ups. Hildreth is a player that I have admired for a while, ever consistent and reliable at the top end of the order. I feel he should always get a mention when it comes to looking at potential England batsmen, however in all honesty I do not believe he is better than the other names on the list and should always remain a big name just on the county circuit.
