Aston Villa Transfer News: Lazio Striker Libor Kozak To Join

By Edward Owen /

Aston Villa are looking to sign last year's Europa League top-scorer Libor Kozak in an effort to bolster their offensive line, according to Metro. The Villains already boast Gabriel Agbonlahor, Nicklas Helenius and Christian Benteke up front but hope to sign the 24-year-old as a potential fourth option. The Lazio striker failed to score in the Rome club's Serie A campaign last season but proved a threat in European competition, notching an impressive 10 goals. Paul Lambert's side are not the first Premier League outfit to take an interest in the 6-foot-3 dangerman, with Sunderland expressing an interest last month. Yet with the hours in the transfer window counting down, the West Midlands-based club are looking to be clear front-runners for the Czech international's signature. Aston Villa have been busy in this season's window, and Kozak would represent the seventh signing of the summer if the deal goes through. Yet Lambert and chief executive Paul Faulkner will hope more will be heading out of Villa Park than heading in today, with Barry Bannan rumoured to be leaving for Crystal Palace. Elsewhere, Villa are offering around Alan Hutton, Shay Given and Stephen Ireland, but their wage demands have lessened any potential interest.
