According to The Daily Mirror, La Liga giants Barcelona have "already asked" French side Monaco about the availability of 22-year old attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar. The player has long been a transfer target for Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool.

Last year, ex-Gunners gaffer Arsène Wenger told Sky Sports that Lemar turned down the chance of a club record £92 million move to the Emirates right before the transfer window closed. Arsenal then tried again this past January, but weren't successful.

Now, Barca are in the hunt and they're the favourites to land the talented French star for between €70-90 million. Lemar is currently on World Cup duty with France, and it's believed he's finally ready to leave Monaco for the Camp Nou.

A series of injuries stilted Lemar's campaign last season. The year before, he helped Monaco win the Ligue 1 title and took them to the semifinal stage of the Champions League for the first time in 13 years. Last season, he managed just two goals in 27 league appearances as the club finished 13 points behind PSG in second.
