Bologna Hold Talks With Liverpool Flop
Fabio Borini's agent is in talks with the players boyhood club.
Daily Star report claims the former Sunderland player's agent has held talks with the Serie A club, who Borini supported as a boy, over a potential move following the Merseyside club's signing of Danny Ings. Borini has found himself way down the pecking order at Anfield, with Daniel Sturridge, Mario Ballotelli, Rickie Lambert and now free-signing Ings ahead of him in the ranks, and it is likely that the 24-year-old will move on this summer permanently rather than on loan. It was reported last year that a bid estimated to be around £13 million from Sunderland was rejected, after the attacker impressed during a season-long loan that saw the former-Parma player bag 10 goals in all competitions for the Black Cats including the opener in the Capital One Cup final 3-1 defeat to Manchester City. Newly promoted Bologna will face a stern battle for the signature of Borini though, with Champions League side Lazio also reported to be in the race the striker who has one international cap for his country so far. Liverpool will insist that permanent switch will only be completed if they can re-coup some of the £10.5 million they spent on Brendan Rodgers' first signing back in 2012.
Liverpool striker Fabio Borini could be set to make a return to Italian football with the club he began his career as a trainee with, as Bologna hold talks with their former employee. A
