Brighton Transfer News: Huddersfield's Aaron Mooy Signs On One-Year Loan Deal
The Australian signs on loan, while also agreeing a new three-year deal at Huddersfield.
In a great move for Brighton & Hove Albion, they’ve managed to secure Huddersfield midfielder Aaron Mooy on a one-year loan deal.
Sky Sports reports that the Australia international has signed for Graham Potter’s side for a season, while also simultaneously signing a new three-year contract with Huddersfield.
The reason for this is down to the player having been in the final 12 months of his previous deal, and so the Terriers sought to protect their asset rather than risk him leaving the Championship club for free next summer.
For Mooy’s part, Huddersfield manager Jan Siewert told Sky that the player wanted to again test himself in the Premier League, having already impressed for Huddy in the two seasons that they spent rubbing shoulders with the elite of the English football pyramid.
All in all, this means that a top-tier player gets to play in the Premier League once more, Brighton have got themselves a fine – albeit temporary – addition, and Huddersfield have maintained a strong transfer value for one of their key assets.
The only downer for Huddersfield, of course, is that they will be without their best player for at least the 2019/20 season.
