Chelsea In For Champions League Runner Up

Another Atletico Madrid star is on his shopping list...

Along with the rumours of a proposed move for Antoine Griezmann, Chelsea are now joining Manchester United and PSG in the hunt for yet another Atletico player, this time in the shape of Turkish international Arda Turan. The Guardian have suggested that these new developments are because of Turan's plans "to leave Spain this summer and his will is to play in the Premier League€, according to his agent Ahmed Bulut. The deal may take place in similar fashion to the rumoured offer for Griezmann, with a suggestion that Filipe Luis may be on his way back to play his football at the Vicente Calderon again next season. After just one year away, the Brazilian full back made only a handful of appearances and never really settled into life as a Chelsea player amid the challenge for places. Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta was preferred in that role more often than not. The fine details of Chelsea's offer are yet to be publicised, unlike the bid made by PSG which is reportedly a straight up £18m bid for the man they call The Beast. This news is the latest in a long line of dealings between the two clubs with the aforementioned Filipe Luis and the somewhat more effective Diego Costa making the switch to the blue of Chelsea last summer, as well as the return of Thibaut Courtois after having had three successful years on loan in the Spanish capital. Turan is fancied by a host of big European clubs; Gazzetta Dello Sport are suggesting that Manchester United are set to trigger his release clause of £29.1 million. If this is the case, it might be another example of Mourinho swooping in to steal another player from the grasps of his rivals as he has be accused of doing in the past.
