Chelsea Transfer News: Edison Cavani €30 Million & Torres Offer Coming
AS.com, Chelsea will offer Napoli 30 million plus Fernando Torres for goalscorer Edinson Cavani. Cavani, 26, has been a target for several of Europe top clubs including Manchester City but it seems new Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, is wanting to hijack a potential deal with Manchester City by including Torres in the deal. The Uruguayan is being viewed as replacement for Fernando Torres who has been disappointing in a Chelsea kit since signing for £50 million in January 2011. Mourinho has no plans to keep Torres at Stamford Bridge and with Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku hardly prolific goalscorers, Mourinho is keen to sign Cavani. If the deal goes through, Fernando Torres record of eight league goals this season will be replaced by Cavanis 29 league goals, a move which will clearly benefit Chelseas strike force. Former Chelsea boss, Rafa Benitez, was announced as new manager of Napoli earlier this week and it looks like his first job is to block any bids from his former club for his number seven. Cavani joined Napoli in July 2010 for a mere 17 million and since then has netted 104 goals in 138 games for the Italian side. Jose Mourinho looks keen to improve the Chelsea squad in order for them to challenge the Manchester clubs for the Premier League title, and it seems he is not short of financial support from Chelsea chairman Roman Abramovich. Chelsea have been linked with other players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney proving that the club intend to spend big this summer.
