Chelsea Transfer News: Jose Mourinho Wants Man City Striker Edin Dzeko
Daily Star, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has made Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko one of his main transfer targets this summer. The returning Blues boss has reportedly signalled the 27-year-old Bosnian striker as the main forward to lead his attack at Stamford Bridge next season. His plan to convince Premier League rivals City to sell Dzeko to Chelsea is for Mourinho not to pursue Uruguayan and Napoli forward Edinson Cavani, and the Daily Star reports that significant money was spent by punters yesterday who believe the Bosnian is London bound. Dzeko joined City from City German side Wolfsburg in January 2011 for a fee of £27 million but The Citizens are looking at a fee of £20 million for the striker, who is also courting interest from Borussia Dortmund. His 14 goals in 32 appearances for City looks decent on paper but it's Dzeko's 66 goals in 111 matches that Mourinho will be hoping he can get back too at Chelsea. Despite never being pushed by former boss Roberto Mancini as his main goal threat, Dzeko remains a popular figure at the Etihad, though his potential sale to Chelsea is unlikely to cause the same kind of uproar that the departure of Robin Van Persie to Arsenal made a year ago, particularly if City could pull off a deal for Cavani.
