Internacional president Giovanni Luigi has confirmed that they have received an enquiry for Brazilian playmaker Oscar, as speculation heats up that Roberto Di Matteo is determined to bring him to Chelsea. The European Champions are thought to be leading the race for Oscar's signature and are believed to be the club that made the transfer enquiry. The Blues' London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, now managed by former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas, are also in the mix for the 20-year-old but Chelsea are favourites to sign him. Oscar's agent claimed earlier in the week that Chelsea had made a £20 million bid for the player (around 25 million euros) but the club president claim no money offers have yet to be tabled but they have received an initial enquiry over the player's services by email, reportedly for £5 million less than Oscar's agent claimed. Talking to Radio Gaucha, Luigi seemed unimpressed by the offer;
"We received an email today, but it's a long way off being done. "The proposal wasn't as good as expected. We think Oscar is worth more than 20million euros. "It wasn't an offer; it was more like an enquiry. We are only saying that the numbers have to change."
Oscar, who is described as a €œtypical Brazilian number 10€ caught the eye last summer when he became the first player to score a hat-trick in the FIFA Under 20 World Cup final against Portugal, and he has subsequently attracted the attentions of both Real Madrid and Barcelona. He can play both as a playmaker or in an attacking role behind the striker and can also play on either flank of midfield. He has been capped six times for Brazil and is thought to be one of the best young talents the country has to offer ahead of the Olympics.
