€œFalcao will remain here and any talk of an exit is misplaced.€
Chelsea have been on the hunt for a new top-class striker to replace the departed Didier Drogba and have been linked with a number of players, including Porto's Hulk and Newcastle United's Demba Ba in recent weeks. Hulk was their first target but Chelsea are unwilling to meet Porto's valuation of over £30 million for their flamboyant and often eccentric star. Demba Ba is available for £7.5 million as per his transfer release clause at Newcastle but the Blues are concerned about his degenerative knee problems and the fact his form in 2012 has been poor. And now according to reports the Stamford Bridge club will struggle to convince Madrid to part with Flacao, who at one point has been valued at the Spanish club for as much as £50 million, i.e. - the same fee Chelsea paid for Fernando Torres in January 2011. Columbian international Falcao scored an incredible 36 goals at Atletico last season after a previous prolific spell at FC Porto under former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.
