Chelsea Transfer News: Samuel Eto'o Today For £7 Million

Daily Mail. The Blues had made the Manchester United striker their priority signing this summer but failed with two bids for the 27-year-old, who has decided not to force through a move to Stamford Bridge. Instead, the West London club have turned their attention to Eto'o, who is taking a massive pay-cut from the £17 million-a-year he picked up at Anzhi, making him the world's best-paid player. The 32-year-old will join Chelsea on a free transfer but will still pick up around £7 million from his one-year stint with the Europa League winners. The Cameroonian, who is his country's all-time top goalscorer, arrived at London's St Pancras station last night and is due to undergo a medical at Chelsea€™s Cobham training ground before finalising terms later today. Eto'o was snapped up by Blues boss Jose Mourinho after he failed to land Rooney from United, though the 'Special One' may make another attempt in the January window. For now, however, he is happy with the former Real Madrid and Barcelona ace, who played under the Portuguese's stewardship at Inter Milan, where the pair won the Champions League in 2010.
