Chelsea are moving closer to securing the signature of £25 million rated Fiorentina play-maker Stevan Jovetic, according to The Daily Star. The Blues reportedly failed with a £20 million offer for the 22-year-old Montenegro international earlier this month but Italian newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport now believe an improved offer of £25 million would be enough to secure the Serie A star as it matches his buy-out clause. Fiorentina's hierarchy sent out a hands-off warning on their prized asset last week but privately they know there is little they can do if Chelsea match Jovetic's release fee. Jovetic plays as a second striker for Fiorentina, in the role of a Lionel Messi, and has impressed with his close control dribbling and his technical abilities on the ball to which many have compared him to Roberto Baggio. He has scored 22 goals in 84 appearances in his four years at the Italian club and has scored 9 in 20 appearances for his country. Standing in the way of Jovetic's potential move for Stamford Bridge are Fiorentina's domestic rivals Juventus and Napoli who have also emerged as potential suitors for the former Partizan Belgrade star.
