Crystal Palace Transfer News: RB Leipzig's Jean-Kevin Augustin Eyed As Zaha Replacement
£15 Million forward currently on standby should Wilfried Zaha force his way out of Palace.
Following on from the earlier news that Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha missed training today as he tries to force a move away from Selhurst Park, Sky Sports is reporting that Palace now have a replacement in mind for the Ivory Coast international.
That replacement is Red Bull Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin, who would cost Roy Hodgson’s side a fee in the region of £15 million.
Aston Villa had previously shown interest in the former Paris St-Germain forward, but Sky reports that Crystal Palace have a provisional agreement in place where Augustin is on standby to fly to London should Zaha indeed leave Palace before today’s 5pm deadline.
Arsenal were the first team to make an offer for Zaha this summer, although their £40 million bid was way off what Crystal Palace are asking for the player. After the Gunners instead opted to sign Lille's Nicolas Pepe, Everton have since emerged as the frontrunners for Wilf’s signature.
Earlier this week, the Toffees lodged a bid of £70 million plus midfielder James McCarthy and striker Cenk Tosun for Zaha – but Palace rejected the offer.
In addition to missing training today, Zaha also handed in a transfer request yesterday as he seems determined to leave Selhurst Park this summer.
