Compared to previous generations, when it comes to watching football we should think ourselves extremely fortunate. In decades gone by, it was very difficult to watch anything other than one live game per week, and if you go as far back as the 1960s and 1970s, there was a period when the FA Cup final was virtually the only high-profile game shown live every season, barring the European Championships and World Cup. These days, we can watch pretty much any football match we want to, with all of Europes major leagues shown worldwide, and at a relentless rate. Live streams of games can be viewed online, and it helps give us a much more rounded view on which players are playing well and which ones are struggling. This makes it far more valid when it comes to selecting a World XI, as we get to view these great players on a weekly basis. There is no guess work, unless you are one of these Football Manager addicts who pretends to know everything about some 17-year-old wonderkid from Azerbaijan. At the end of the day, this is a very subjective topic, and one that you can spend hours debating with your mates at the pub. You will rarely ever get two people in complete agreeance over it. Without further ado, here is a current World XI; do you agree?
