In what has been the most tumultuous week in UFC history, and one Dana White called "the worst few days of his career", yet another card has been disrupted by losing a headlining bout.

This time around it's pound-for-pound kingpin Demetrious Johnson falling victim to the injury bug that has mercilessly plagued the mixed martial arts organization. 'Mighty Mouse' was scheduled to defend his flyweight championship for an astonishing ninth straight time in the co-main event of UFC 201.

The card, which will take place live from Atlanta, Georgia on 30 July, had already fallen under criticism for hosting a title fight that featured Wilson Reis challenging Johnson. Reis (20-6) is a mere 4-2 in his UFC career, splitting his last two contests and is far from a known name or someone that many observers considered to be deserving of a title shot. However, after his thorough domination of Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo at UFC 197, Demetrious is rapidly running out of challengers.

Details of Johnson's injury and the length of time he'll be forced to sit on the sidelines have yet to be announced, but it's likely that the fight will be rescheduled.

UFC 201 is headlined by a main event welterweight title fight featuring the always-exciting 'Ruthless' Robbie Lawler defending his championship against Tyron Woodley, an explosive fighter in the midst of an impressive run with wins over top combatants such as Carlos Condit and Kelvin Gastelum.

We'll have more on the severity of Demetrious Johnson's injury as news become available.
