Team News
Gareth Bale will still be missing with a foot injury as rumours about his future continue to linger. The Welshman, 24, has not played for Spurs since scoring in a pre-season friendly against Swindon on the 16th of July. Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen (ankle injury) and midfield pair Aaron Lennon and Sandro (foot and knee respectively) will also miss the trip to Georgia. Lewis Holtby and Benoit Assou-Ekotto are both still missing with knee injuries, with the latter strongly expected to leave this summer, while Emmanuel Adebayor is also out - Adebayor is still short of match fitness after a spell of compassionate leave following the death of his brother. Spurs are likely to make wholesale changes to the team that started at Crystal Palace, while Dinamo Tbilisi will most likely field their strongest side and are relatively injury free.
Match Preview
Dinamo Tbilisi won their domestic league title last season, but have dropped into the Europa League following a 3-1 aggregate defeat to Romanian side Steaua Bucharest in the third round of the Champions League qualifying stages. Former La Liga player Xisco Munoz's 24 league goals were key to their success in the Georgian Premier League in 2012-13 and the Spaniard scored four minutes into injury-time to ensure Dinamo began their defence with a 2-1 win at home to Zestafoni two Sundays ago. In their second league match of the season, Dinamo played out a 1-1 away draw with Dila last weekend. Spurs opened their Premier League campaign last weekend with a 1-0 victory at newly promoted Crystal Palace, thanks to a penalty scored by new Spanish striker Roberto Soldado. Tottenham last played Dinamo Tbilisi in November 1973 when they travelled to Georgia in the third round of the Uefa Cup. Ralph Coates scored for the visitors before Dinamo equalised with 17 minutes to go, but Tottenham progressed after a 5-1 second-leg win back at White Hart Lane. They'll be hoping to emulate that victory again this time around.
