England Announce Euro 2012 Squad Numbers

The Football Association have confirmed that England have submitted their squad numbers for the 2012 European Championships in Poland/Ukraine.

The Football Association have confirmed that England have submitted their squad numbers for the 2012 European Championships in Poland/Ukraine. Goalkeeper Joe Hart is handed the number one jersey as expected, with Gary Cahill and John Terry filling numbers five and six. Captain Steven Gerrard will wear his favourite number four shirt, while Scott Parker will line up wearing 17. Ashley Young gets number 11 ahead of Stewart Downing who is handed number 19. Andy Carroll will wear his usual number 9 with Ashley Cole (3), Frank Lampard (8) and Wayne Rooney (10) wearing their familiar numbers. Meanwhile England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed places for Liverpool right full-back Glen Johnson (as number 2) and Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck (as number 22) who were both doubts with injuries as late as the hours before the 11am squad deadline. After talks with the England medical staff, both players were selected.
