Bayern continued their sparkling start to the season with a convincing 6-1 demolition of Stuttgart, leaving them on six points. An early goal from Martin Harnik provided faith for the travelling Stuttgart fans, but two goals in one minute quickly put the Bavarians back in the driving seat. They remain at the top of the table alongside Eintracht Frankfurt. The newcomers smashed Hoffenheim 4-0 at the Rhein-Neckar Arena, which leaves Markus Babbel€™s future in doubt. The other promoted teams, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Greuther Furth, had mixed fortunes. Dusseldorf escaped Monchengladbach with a point in a goal-less draw but Furth impressed with a 1-0 win over Mainz. Borussia Dortmund had 16 shots at goal but only one beat the Nuremberg keeper and a 31st minute strike from Pekhart meant the reigning champions had to settle for a solitary point. The big match of the weekend was the Nordderby, between arch-rivals Werder Bremen and Hamburg. Goals from Aaron Hunt and Nils Peterson were enough for Bremen to leave with the three points and the bragging rights. Schalke added three points to their tally for the season with a win over Augsburg. Huntelaar notched another goal for the Gelsenkirchen side as they ran out 3-1 victors over the visitors.
