The ever-reliable David Weir was Evertons first-choice skipper during the campaign after being handed the armband by the Toffees previous manager Walter Smith. The experienced Scot left Everton to join Rangers in 2007 and is still based at Ibrox today. After a managerial stint at Sheffield United and a spell as assistant boss of Brentford under Mark Warburton, he followed Warbs to Glasgow to continue serving as his deputy.
