Fantasy Premier League 2018-19: 10 Midfielders To Sign

Don't miss out on these midfielders.

With each passing day, the first games of the 2018-19 Premier League season draw closer, and this is a great time to start preparing your fantasy squad. While the forwards might be the ones who score the most goals, the midfield is a key element of any fantasy lineup and midfielders are often among the top performing fantasy players over the course of a typical season.

A look back to last season's stats, for instance, shows us that midfielders made up five of the top six Fantasy Premier League performers, with Mohamed Salah and Raheem Sterling sitting at the top of the pile.

Both of those players scored and made a lot of goals over the course of the season, and it's vital to focus on creative attacking midfielders when preparing your own fantasy squad. The likes of Fernandinho and N'Golo Kanté are great players, but they don't score or assist enough to really have a big impact on the fantasy standings.

So, with the first game just days away, it's time to start scouring through the statistics and comparing player prices in order to figure out which five midfielders will make it into your fantasy squad for the start of the new season.

10. André Schürrle (Fulham)

Former Chelsea man André Schürrle is back in London and back in the Premier League, this time at Fulham on a loan from Borussia Dortmund. The 57-cap German international and World Cup winner only spent a season and a half with Chelsea from 2013 to 2015, netting 11 times in 44 games, before returning to his homeland after being deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year-old has found game time hard to come by in recent seasons with Dortmund and fallen out of favour with the German national side too, but will be looking at his loan spell with Fulham as a great chance to revitalise his career and play a key role for a side that will really be relying on him to make and score goals.

Priced at just £6m, Schürrle is a real bargain. He's classed as a midfielder in the fantasy game despite mostly playing as a forward and has the potential to provide a big return for a relatively minor investment. Back in the 2013/14 season with Chelsea, he scored eight goals and assisted two more for an impressive tally of 103 fantasy points. If he can do the same or better this season, he'll prove to be a sound selection for your squad.
