Fantasy Premier League 2018-19 Tips: 10 Defenders You Must Sign

10. Ben Mee (Burnley)

Burnley were one of the biggest surprises of last season, ending the year in 7th place and qualifying for the Europa League in the process. They may have finished the season quite a number of points behind the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, but their defence was almost just as good. Burnley only let in 39 goals all season. For reference, Liverpool and Chelsea let in 38.

With 12 clean sheets in total, Burnley's defenders proved to be very smart picks in the fantasy game and the team can be expected to be a tough nut to crack once again this season. Including a Burnley defender in your fantasy squad is definitely a smart move, especially in the early stages as Sean Dyche's side have one of the easier sets of fixtures in the first few weeks, playing Southampton, Watford, and Fulham to open the season.

He didn't score or create any goals last season, despite having quite a few shots and headers on goal, but £5m man Ben Mee is a good pick, having picked up 90 points last season. Injuries notwithstanding, the 28-year-old will be an ever-present in his side and should earn plenty of points for clean sheets, as well as having the possibility of chipping in with a goal or two.
