Huddersfield Manager Lee Clark Sacked

By Matt Holmes /

Sky Sports News sources are reporting the breaking news that Huddersfield Town manager Lee Clark has sensationally been sacked today. Nothing has been confirmed just yet and some outlets are reporting that he walked out on the job. Huddersfield suffered a 1-0 home defeat last night to fellow promotion rivals Sheffield United. Huddersfield currently sit fourth in League One, within touching distance of the promotion places for a route into the Championship and Clark's ability to get this team to climb that table has had him linked with every top managerial job that has come up in the last few months. It is unbelievable to think that he has been given the boot after only their third defeat of the season last night, but the news is he has been outed. Clark, who has been linked heavily with the vacant Leeds United manager's job and in the past few days the Wolves managerial vacancy after the sacking of Mick McCarthy... was made odds-on favourite to take over at the Yorkshire club just seconds after this news broke. Victor Chandler have just dramatically dropped the odds on Clark. A down beat Clark said after last night's defeat; "We have had a lot of pressure and created chances but it didn't happen for us," said Clark. "We have to take it on the chin, dust ourselves down and go again." Huddersfield don't have a game this weekend and Clark said; "I would have liked a game to get this out of our system but it's not to be. "We have to bounce back but we can take heart from this performance. We have lost the game but hopefully we can continue with this type of performance."
