Following Huddersfield€™s promotion from League One in glorious fashion at Wembley in a nerve wracking penalty shoot out with Sheffield United, this summer has been somewhat of a rebuilding process for the club. Club manager Simon Grayson has wielded the axe by releasing a number of first team players and implementing his own style of play among the team. Acquiring players who have Championship experience aplenty is not an easy feat however Grayson has dealt his hand and managed to land seven new players. First and foremost we will take a look into the defensive options that have been brought into the club. Paul Dixon is first up, primed as a left back from his time at Dundee United has been brought in to help the ageing Gary Naysmith. Dixon has a licence to venture forward and has proved at times his importance to the squad by cropping up when his previous teams have needed an important goal; this was most noticeable when he scored against fierce city rivals Dundee on 21st February 2012 where United won comprehensively 4-0. The second defensive signing is one that was made by Grayson€™s predecessor Lee Clark, young Murray Wallace from Falkirk. The Youngster who was signed on the last day of the January transfer window is a centre back and is a part of a Scottish influx down at Huddersfield. Murray began his career as a trainee at Rangers until the age of 16 where Falkirk came along and offered him the chance to enhance his football career. Thirty four appearances later and he finds himself in contention for a starting berth alongside skipper Peter Clarke at the heart of the defence. The third and final defensive signing Joel Lynch is another central defender who has plenty of championship experience both with previous club Nottingham Forest and Brighton and Hove Albion. During his time at Nottingham Forest he turned out a total of eighty times and for the latter he appeared seventy nine times over the span of three seasons per club. Moving into the middle of the pitch we look at the final four signings Simon Grayson has made starting with Oliver Norwood. Youngster Norwood is a signing from Manchester United who has represented England at Under-17 level. Oliver€™s experience has come from a varied choice of clubs across the leagues all of which were on loan before his permanent move to Huddersfield. Those included are Carlisle United where he made six appearances, Scunthorpe United where he contributed during fifteen appearances and most recently in the championship for midlands club Coventry City making a total of eighteen appearances. The Northern Ireland international made goal scoring exploits with a stoppage time equaliser against Cardiff City and scored another during the 2-0 victory over Portsmouth. Next on our list is Adam Clayton, most notably a signing from fierce local rivals Leeds United, the midfielder has long been on Simon Grayson€™s radar mainly due to their working time together at Leeds. Adam started his youth career at cash rich Manchester City and has gained league experience from his time on loan at clubs Carlisle United, Peterborough United and Milton Keynes Dons. Huddersfield€™s last two latest signings Sean Scannell and Keith Southern have a ton of championship experience between them as between them they have represented Crystal Palace and Blackpool for a number of seasons.
