Hull 0-2 Chelsea: Premier League Player Ratings

By Jamie Clark /

Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres scored the goals that took Chelsea top of the Premier League with victory at Hull City. Steve Bruce reverted to ten of his starting XI from the Tigers' last league encounter after making wholesale changes for the FA Cup win at Middlesbrough. George Boyd replaced Robert Koren in the only alteration to the side that lost at Liverpool. Jose Mourinho meanwhile made four changes from the victory at Derby County. Mark Schwarzer, John Oni Mikel, Samuel Eto'o and Michael Essien all dropped out. Regulars Petr Cech, Hazard and John Terry returned. Torres got the nod to lead the Blues attack. Chelsea ground out these three points at the KC Stadium after Hull's encouraging start. Key saves were then made Allan McGregor, but the home defence was breached twice in the second half. Mourinho's team will remain first until at least Sunday afternoon when Manchester City play Newcastle United. Arsenal, who led the way coming into the weekend, could reclaim top spot with a win at Aston Villa on Monday. Who impressed the WhatCulture sports team in this Premier League match?
