Match Preview

German champions Bayern Munich will be the favourites to progress to their third Champions League semi-final in four years after taking control of the first leg at the Allianz Arena, deservedly prevailing 2-0 winners. Their win over Juve however ended the Old Lady's 18-match unbeaten run in Uefa competition and Antonio Conte's side should not be underestimated. Influential Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has seen greater come-backs than the reversal of a two goal deficit - he played for AC Milan back when Liverpool famously came back from 3-0 down in 2005 and looked on aghast as Rafael Benitez' side lifted that season's Champions League trophy. But Juventus will have to get off to a lightning start if they are to have any hopes of reaching the semi-finals. A goal as quick as the one David Alaba registered in 25.02 seconds last week would be much welcomed. However, Bayern Munich are the ones who have been doing things in record-fast time lately. They are officially champions of Germany with 6 games of the Bundesliga remaining, and will now solely focus on reaching their second Champions League final in as many years.

Predicted Scoreline

Juventus 1-2 Bayern Munich I can see Juve pulling one back but it won't be enough. Though they will be buoyed by the home support, Bayern will simply be too strong and will demonstrate just why they won the Bundesliga as quickly as they did.
