Liverpool's attacking duo Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge both got on the score sheet as the Merseyside outfit convincingly saw past Crystal Palace. The home side took just 14 minutes to take the lead, and it was Luis Suarez who broke the deadlock. After a neat move with Jose Enrique, the Liverpool striker beat one defender was scored from an angle despite tumbling. Sturridge doubled their lead minutes later after cutting inside and hitting a fierce strike which beat the Palace 'keeper. Before the break, midfielder Steven Gerrard put the game beyond doubt after scoring a penalty, and Liverpool were 3-0 up at half time. Palace came out firing after the break, and were unlucky not to pull a goal back after Dwight Gayle intercepted a pass from Jose Enrique, but the youngster fired over the bar. The same man was in action again, and this time made his chance count in the 80th minute. Gayle flicked home a free kick to make it 3-1, but it was scant consolation in the end as Liverpool ran out easy winners. The win put the Merseyside outfit top of the Premier League, while Crystal Palace are still languishing in the relegation zone, and could go bottom tonight should 20th-place Sunderland achieve an unlikely victory against Manchester United in the late kickoff.
