Liverpool Transfer News: Andy Carroll In Shock AC Milan Move?

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has emerged as a shock target for AC Milan. The son of owner Silvio Berlusconi has urged his father to pull off the ambitious transfer after being impressed by Carroll's late Premier League and FA Cup form for Liverpool and his brief showing at Euro 2012 for England. AC Milan are looking at bringing in some younger players to the San Siro for the new season and according to the Metro, Berlusconi jnr has said;

€œThis is a new era for Milan. We will continue to get younger while maintaining the culture. Milan still has its superstars. As a future target I€™d like Andy Carroll. €œI must admit that for his body build, and after seeing his header in the Euros, I would like to have Carroll at Milan,€ he added, reports the Metro.

Berlusconi jnr is the president of the Italian TV company Mediaset that owns AC. He has lately been heavily involved in the transfer activity at the club and has made it his goal to reduce the average ages of the squad. The old timers Flippo Inzaghi, 38, Clarence Seedorf, 36, Mark Van Bommel, 35, Alessandro Nesta, 36, and Gennaro Gattuso, 34, have all been farmed out as they look for the new generation of the club. Carroll has emerged as a leading candidate for this shake-up. Liverpool are likely to shun most bids south of £30 million for Carroll having spent a record breaking £35 million on the most expensive English footballer in history just 18 months ago. The 23-year-old has been disappointing in his first season at Anfield but in the final weeks of the season started to show why Liverpool spent so much on him and started to get the goals. He is a key part of new manager Brendan Rodgers' plans and unless Carroll seeks a move away from the club desperately, it is hard to see him going anywhere.
