Liverpool Transfer News: Deal Done For Iturra?

By Kieran Milward /

talkSPORT is reporting today today that Liverpool look to have all but finalised a deal with Malaga for 28 year old play-maker Manuel Iturra. The Chilean International has impressed pundits with his performances in La Liga and the Champions League this season and is out of contract at the end of the season, so will cost Liverpool nothing in transfer fees. talkSport cites reports in Portugal newspaper A Bola and Italian website Calciomercato as the source of the claims. http://youtu.be/Wy7vlOxerIM From what I have seen of him this season in the Champions League he looks to be a bright and creative talent with an eye for spotting a pass, but with just one goal and one assist in all competitions his lack of end product is worrying for a Liverpool team who have struggled in recent seasons with the same problem. The same report says that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is determined to see his side challenge the big guns next season and hopes the signing of Iturra will help him achieve those objectives. He could well become a decent squad player and with Liverpool's transfer budget for January reportedly set at £20million (according to the Mail), and assertions in the past that budgets would be affected by Champions League qualification (source: Liverpool Echo), if a top four finish is out of reach, then free transfers and out of contract players could be vital to the growth of the team. Who would you like to see come in to Anfield in the summer?
