Liverpool Transfer News: Luis Suarez Will Leave Without Champions League

Liverpool's Luis Suarez could leave without Champions League football?

Daily Mail. Liverpool haven't contested the Champions League for three seasons now after finishing seventh, sixth and eighth in previous campaigns, and Rodger's fears his star players will move on if they feel the club no longer has ambition or potential to challenge for honours. Suarez has been one of the in-form strikers in the Premier League this season, and has so far scored 14 times. However, his side are currently languishing in tenth place in the league - ten points off a Champions League spot having played a game more than fourth placed Chelsea. Suarez signed a five-year deal at Anfield last summer after snubbing overtures from Juventus, though his contract reportedly carries a £40 million buy out clause, which has alerted a string of Spanish sides such as Atletico Madrid - who will likely be seeking a replacement for Radamel Falcao, who has been hotly tipped with a move away - and Barcelona, who need a replacement for David Villa. And Rodgers has confessed his players need to feel there is a reason worth staying at Anfield if they are to stay out of the clutches of rivals. He said:

"The players need to feel there is hope. I don€™t want people who don€™t want to be here, but top players like Steven Gerrard, Daniel Agger and Luis Suarez have all committed to the cause. They obviously feel there is hope that the model will work. "The reality is we€™re a team that haven€™t been challenging for the last number of years and it is going to need that wee bit of time. I believe we are going down the right route because, if you€™re not going to invest as heavily, you have to build."
