Liverpool Transfer News: Luis Suarez Will Stay, Says Brendan Rodgers
Metro. The Uruguayan striker flirted with a move away from Anfield over the summer, while Arsenal made a £40 million bid, and despite spelling out his desire to quit, ended up staying on Merseyside. Rodger's ability to persuade the 26-year-old to stay put appears to have paid off, with Suarez netting five times in six games since returning from his 10-match suspension for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic. That run of form also included a sensation hat-trick against West Brom at the weekend. With the January transfer window set to open in a little over two months, however, there is always the concern that the Gunners will make a fresh approach for the former Ajax man, but Rodgers remains confident he will remain a Red. "I think he, like ourselves, wants to be at the very highest level he can be," commented the Northern Irishman.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is confident Luis Suarez will still be at the club by the end of the season, according to the "And you can see by his performances he deserves to be looking at that level. But it also shows he has been excellent in his attitude, you see his work rate that is the key. "For me, this is the place for Luis. I still maintain that even if we were in mid-table this would be the place for him to be because this is a massive club a global institution."Not only has Suarez come back a better player following his long lay-off through suspension, but Liverpool too have improved since last season. The Merseysiders are currently third in the Premier League and just two points off league leaders Arsenal. And Rodgers believes Suarez can continue to share in the club's successes. He concluded:
"As a football club and as a team we are growing and he can grow with us. Luis has the support of everyone at the club and the love of everyone and because this is a worldwide institution, there is no better place for him to grow. "When a player is happy and working well you get a performance like you did ."
