Raheem Sterling contract dispute intensifies as he tells Liverpool he's ready to leave.
Liverpool have suffered another setback in a damaging season after it was reported that Raheem Sterling is to meet with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers on Friday, when he is expected to reveal he wants to leave the club.
This news comes just weeks after the 20-year old rejected a lucrative contract offer of over £100,000 a week. Should Liverpool decide to grant the young forward his wish, there will be a host of clubs interested in capturing his signing.
Manchester City seem the frontrunners at this moment in time, yet Arsenal and a number of leading European outfits have also shown an interest in recent weeks.
Although Liverpool insist they have no reason to sell their Jamaican-born England starlet, it is thought that an offer in the region of £35m would tempt the Anfield club into selling.
Sterling currently sits on a contract worth around £35,000 a week and said in an interview with the BBC - which he arranged himself to clear the air - that he talks about winning trophies as opposed to money.
Liverpool legend Phil Thompson, speaking through the week, stated: I think it will be very difficult for him to stay at Liverpool now. Hes shown all the signs that hes ready and prepared to leave the club.
Departing club captain Steven Gerrard was quick to advise Sterling to stay at the club and play for a coach who believes in him.
I think there is no-one better for him than Brendan Rodgers at this moment in time said Gerrard, who is LA Galaxy-bound after a 17-year stint at the club.

This summer could see Raheem Sterling and James Milner trade places at their respective clubs, after recent reports stated that Milner would favour a move to Liverpool as opposed to Arsenal, when his contract at City runs out at the end of the season.
