Liverpool Transfers: 3 Premier League Defenders Linked With Anfield Move
Liverpool look to three English stars to strengthen their back-line.
According to The Guardian, Liverpool are currently keeping tabs on Jamaal Lascelles, Harry Maguire and James Tarkowski with an eye to strengthening their back-line.
Having paid a world-record fee for a centre-back of £75m for Virgil van Dijk, the Reds are eyeing up the Premier League trio to join their defensive ranks.
All three were tipped for an England World Cup call-up this summer; with Maguire making the grade and already having played in Russia, Tarkowski pulling out from England's standby list due to injury, and Lascelles just missing out.
The trio have all had excellent seasons for their respective clubs too; Lascelles had a terrific campaign under Rafael Benitez at Newcastle, Tarkowski led Burnley to seventh in the Premier League, and Maguire looked phenomenal in his debut season for Leicester having joined from Hull City 12 months ago.
It's rumoured that if an attempt was made to sign any of the three, it would be in a move to add extra quality at the back rather than replace current first choice centre-back Dejan Lovren.
The Guardian also say that Liverpool are keen on Jack Butland of Stoke City in their search for a new goalkeeper, whilst PSG's Alphonso Areola is also a possibility.
