Liverpool fans are urging new boss Jurgen Klopp to make a January transfer window swoop for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. According to the Independent, fans on Merseyside have taken to social media to voice their concerns over the performances of current Liverpool stopper Simon Mignolet and have pushed the Reds boss to make a move for ter Stegen as his replacement. With only 4 league appearances to his name in the 18 months since the young German international 'keeper made the switch to the Nou Camp, ter Stegen is said to be considering his future in Spain in order to secure a place in his country's Euro 2016 squad. Barca boss Luis Enrique seemingly doesn't have the stopper in his plans with Claudio Bravo firmly placed as the La Liga champions number one, with ter Stegen noticeably absent from the recent Club World Cup tournament.

When ter Stegen first arrived in the Spanish capital from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014, he was considered to be the long term successor to Victor Valdes. He earned a strong reputation in Germany for being one of the most promising 'keepers in Europe and Barcelona moved quickly to secure his services after his contract expired. However, after an impressive 2014 World Cup campaign for his country Chile, Barcelona also signed Claudio Bravo that summer and it was unclear who would be number one for the Catalans. Initially, Luis Enrique executed a rotation policy between the two 'keepers but it was quickly dropped with Bravo claiming the number 1 jersey. There's no confirmation yet that Liverpool are interested in signing a goalkeeper but with the costly mistakes Simon Mignolet has continued to make since Klopp's arrival and his replacement Adam Bogdan being at fault for Watford's opening goal in their 3-0 defeat of Liverpool last weekend, fans on Merseyside are encouraging the Reds to act quickly for ter Stegen.
