Loic Remy Chose Not To Play For Newcastle Against Liverpool In Final Game Of The Season

Loic Remy has finally confirmed what most Newcastle supporters already knew by admitting that he missed our final match of the season against Liverpool in order to avoid injury ahead of the World Cup. The France forward's frank confession completely discredits the reasoning laid down by Alan Pardew, who said after the 2-1 defeat that Remy's absence from the squad was because he had picked up a knock in our 3-0 a week earlier. But our 14-goal top scorer even revealed that Pardew agreed that he wouldn't have to play in order to protect himself from further harm with the tournament in Brazil looming large on the horizon. "The coach Alan Pardew understood my point of view," he explained to the Shields Gazette.

Although Remy proved to be a popular figure on Tyneside throughout his season-long loan spell, this confession will undoubtedly leave a sour taste in the mouths of the 3,000 Newcastle supporters who forked out their hard-earned cash to fill out the away at Anfield.

It's quite clear the 27-year-old felt no obligation to show the supporters the same level of respect afforded to him during a wretched campaign when he continually refused to nail his colours to the black and white mast.

And what does it say about the spineless Pardew that he would allow a player to undermine his authority as manager to such an extent?
