Luka Modric May Quit Tottenham Hotspur Admits Harry Redknapp

"I would be lying if I said I was sure that he would stay. You don't know."

On the day when Tottenham Hotspur can claw back fourth place, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has made the surprising revelation that Luka Modric may quit White Hart Lane in the summer. The Croatian international certainly tried to quit the club last summer as he made it known he wanted to join Chelsea, who had offered up to £30 million or £40 million depending on which source you believe, but Spurs turned down all offers. Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy stayed strong and despite Modric's pleas, they were not letting him go. So the revelation today that Modric may "quit" the club in the summer, is really more a case of Spurs may be ready to let him go. Modric has had another fine season at White Hart Lane and has impressed Roberto Mancini most of all, who has deeper pockets than anyone to bring him to Barcelona. But the news of Modric perhaps leaving is a huge concern for Spurs fans with the news that Gareth Bale will consider his future at the club if Spurs don't reach the Champions League next season. Redknapp believes he is more confident of keeping bale despite Barcelona knocking down their door, but he does admit that Modric's time could be up. Redknapp said;
"Last summer it was vital that we kept hold of Luka," "I don't think we will have to do it with people like Gareth Bale this summer. "Luka, it's different with him. I don't know what he would do. "I would be lying if I said I was sure that he would stay. You don't know. "But certainly I wouldn't see Gareth Bale wanting to leave here. "At the moment he is happy here, a big fish here. He is still learning the game, a young boy, and this is where he needs to be. "You would like to think Luka would still be here, but you never know."
