After Manchester City's abysmal away performance against Arsenal which saw them lose 1-0 and have the polarizing Mario Balotelli sent off, United extended their lead at the top of the table to 8 points, the same tally they once led by earlier in the season. It appeared that the title was headed to Old Trafford for a second year in succession, however after a few freak results which saw United let slip a 2 goal lead at home to Everton to draw, and lose at Wigan, the title race was back on, re-enforced even further by City's tying of the points tally with a win over the Red Devils. City and United both went on to win their final two games of the season, with United beating Swansea and Sunderland, and City grinding out two hard fought results against Newcastle penultimately and QPR finally with Sergio Aguero's last gasp winner. Last season is all the evidence we need to know that the saying 'it's not over until the final whistle' couldn't be more true.
