Man City: Manuel Pellegrini To Replace Roberto Mancini At End Of Season

By Matt Robinson /

the Guardian, Malaga's Manuel Pellegrini will replace Roberto Mancini as Manchester City boss at the start of next season. Reports in Spain over night suggested that Manchester City will pay Pellegrini's £3.4 million release clause in order to bring him to the Eithad, along with a deal to capture promising wonder kid midfielder Isco. Roberto Mancini, 48, led Manchester City to their first ever Premier League title last season after pipping rivals Manchester United on the final day of the season but after a disappointing campaign this time around, there has been some expectation that he could be relieved of his duties. The doubts over Mancini's future comes just days after the retirement of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who will be replaced by Everton manager David Moyes on July 1st. Pellegrini has reportedly told his players that he will be leaving Malaga at the end of the current season, though The Guardian claim City are refusing to confirm the speculation. On Friday Mancini admitted that he understands the pressure of management:

"I won seven trophies in Inter in four years and they sack me after four years . This is football. I know football enough to understand this situation."
Mancini became City boss in December 2009 and has won one Premier League title, one FA cup and one Community Shield after spending over £200 million on bringing some of England and Europe's top players to the blue side of Manchester. He will lead his team out for today's FA Cup final against Wigan, hoping to add another major trophy to his CV.
